BRING is one of the nation’s oldest non-profit recyclers. Since 1971, it has encouraged people to rethink what they use and what they throw away. BRING helps our community keep useful items out of the landfill, find ways to use less stuff, reuse as many things as possible, and recycle the rest.

BRING helps businesses protect the local environment, conserve natural resources, and save money through certification programs and other innovative partnerships.

The Bold Steps Award

Is your business dedicated to waste prevention, sustainability, and community?  If so, you may be a great candidate for the Bold Steps Award! The Bold Steps program recognizes Eugene-based sustainable businesses and represents a partnership between The City of Eugene, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis, and BRING’s rethink business program. Winning businesses receive marketing assistance including print ads and a professionally produced video, as well as recognition from the Mayor and community members at the annual State of the City event.

To qualify for consideration for the Bold Steps award, businesses must be certified through the rethink program which offers businesses free, on-site consultation to reduce waste and save money.

Love Food Not Waste

Does your business generate food waste?  If you are not already collecting food and organic waste for composting, the Love Food Not Waste Program may be a great fit for your business. This partnership between the City of Eugene, local garbage haulers, and commercial composters enables businesses to reduce the 40 million pounds of food waste Eugene sends to landfills annually.

For more information and to find out how to participate, check out the City of Eugene's program info here, or reach out to bzublin@eugene-or.gov.
